Name: Michael Brown Current Job Title: Senior Electronic Engineer Location: Engineering Team, Belfast, UK
Michael joined Andor in 1999 as an Electronic Engineer and completed his Masters in Opto-Electronics in 2005. He is a valued member of our growing electronics team and has a wealth of knowledge across our product lines. As well as providing electronics expertise Michael’s job could find him talking to customers, travelling to customers’ sites, leading key business projects as well as supporting staff across the world.
Michael is also quiz master extraordinaire at our annual Christmas quiz and our Belfast marathon coordinator, raising money for our nominated charity of the year.
Michael says:"Being a member of the Hardware Team I am responsible for working on the next generation of Andor products. This gives me the opportunity to influence our products from their concept right through to delivering a market leading product using the latest technologies available."
Name: Louise Davison Current Job Title: Senior Human Resource Advisor & Team Leader Location: HR Team, Belfast, UK
Louise came to Andor CIPD qualified and with huge ambition and potential. Now implementing the HR operational activities around the globe, Louise provides advice and support in all areas of human resource management to managers and staff and is currently completing an ILM accredited Management Development Programme which she helped to develop.
Louise says:"Andor invests significantly in the Training and Development of all of its employees. Over the last two years I have had a lot of opportunity for my own personal career development. I am working with people from all over the world and this has enabled me to develop my HR career on a global platform."
Name: Toshika Yanagida Current Job Title: Product Support Engineer Location: Product Support Team, Tokyo, Japan
Yanagida is Andor’s Product Support Engineer based in our Tokyo office in Japan. His role requires him to apply his technical expertise to provide pre and post sales support to a range of situations and products, assisting customers and staff across APAC.
Toshika says:"I had been working in the imaging industry and I was interested in Andor Technology because this company has high potential in the field. It is always a challenge to support customers doing specialized study of various fields but I feel pleasure when they can maximize the performance of our products and finally get the best and unique results in their work."
Name: Jennifer Drezek Current Job Title: Sales Service Manager US Location: Sales Support Team, Connecticut, USA
Jennifer joined Andor’s sales team in 1998 on the opening of the Andor Technology office in Connecticut, USA. Now with over 12 years experience in sales and sales support at Andor, she leads the Sales support team in the US.
Jennifer says:"Throughout my time here at Andor, people have asked me what I enjoy the most about working here…and I find my response has remained the same through the years; I truly enjoy and am humbled by our dedicated group of employees who always continue to give 120% to aid in the company growth. It’s a unique trait of our niche market company that I strongly believe makes Andor such a rewarding place to work."
Name: Robert Loughran Current Job Title: Production Technician Location: Operations Team, Belfast, UK
Bobby works within the Headboard Assembly Team and has over six years expertise in building and testing a range of Andors products and initially worked within our class 10000 cleanroom facility. Bobby brought with him a wealth of experience from Nortel and Trivirix and has recently completed an NVQ level 2 in Electronic Engineering accredited by the Engineering Training Council.
Robert says:"I really enjoy my job, I know what to do and I get on with it. My team is great to work with and everyone in the Company is very friendly, a good company to work for. I get on well with people in all departments. There is definitely a big focus on quality and doing things right."
Name: Sarah McAllister Current Job Title: Marketing Communications Placement Student Location: Product Marketing Team, Belfast, UK
Each year Andor supports local universities and students through awarding a range of placements for Undergraduates. Sarah is currently completing a BSc (Hons) Business with Marketing and will return to University of Ulster in September to complete her final year.
Sarah says:"I was interested in carrying out a Marketing placement with Andor Technology as they are a true success story for Northern Ireland. Andor is a prime example on how ingenuity and innovation can produce a successful global company. I thoroughly enjoy working here, everyone shares the same work ethic, constantly striving for perfection. My time at Andor has been very rewarding both personally and professionally, I've learned a lot about all aspects of a market leader worldwide."
Name: Axel Wiegand Current Job Title: Sales Engineer Location: EMEA Sales Team, Germany
On completing his PhD at Queens University Belfast, Axel joined the Sales & Marketing Team based in Belfast and commenced learning and developing his sales and product expertise. When he moved back to Germany in 2006, Axel opened our German Sales Office and became our local representative of the region.
Axel says:"Andor is an exciting and progressive company to work for, very organized and professional. I was well looked after from day one! I’m also lucky to have a great bunch of colleagues around the world! All in all, a pretty challenging and satisfactory job!"
Name: Pamela Wallace Current Job Title: Team Leader - Production Location: Operations Team, Belfast, UK
Pamela joined Andor in 2007 as a Test Technician and was promptly promoted to Team Leader with responsibility for our cleanroom, mechanical assembly line and a team of 12 Technicians. Pamela has a HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and this year received an NVQ level 3 in Business Improvement Techniques accredited by the Engineering Training Council.
Pamela says:"There is a real focus on working together in the group and I’m not just working with staff in production, I get to work and meet with people from the other departments. I enjoy the different opportunities for training that I have and the half day on a Friday means that I can get everything done. It is great to hear from our Engineers what the cameras are being used for by our customers. Our support in Japan told us recently about a camera that has been in space analysing rocks and another that is being used for live 3D cell imaging."
Name: Dermot McCluskey Current Job Title: Senior Software Engineer Location: Software Engineering Team, Belfast, UK
Dermot studied Computing and Information Studies at the University of Ulster and joined Andor’s software team in 2003. Dermot is currently on a team developing a brand new camera based on the next generation CMOS Image Sensor. His role has taken him to England, Paris and North Carolina supporting staff and customers in the field.
Dermot says:"There is a lot I could say about Andor but the best thing is that no two days are ever the same, I am always busy solving puzzles and I really don’t see where the time goes."
Name: Michael Sheridan Current Job Title: Software Student Placement Location: Software Engineering Team, Belfast, UK
Andor has a strong Software department which shares their enthusiasm and knowledge with a student on placement each year. Michael was awarded this opportunity while studying BEng Hons Computer Games Development with Diploma in Industrial studies and is working alongside our software engineers at the heart of key projects gaining essential experience before returning to University.
Michael says:"I decided upon doing my placement at Andor because due to the hi-tech nature of the company I felt that I could learn a lot from working there. So far it has been a great experience for me, I’m kept busy and feel I have learned loads in my time here."
