Andor attends many photonics events worldwide, showcasing our extensive product range and meeting with existing customers. If it is your intention to attend any of the following events, we would be delighted to meet up with you. Book a meeting with us, and we'll arrange some time at the upcoming event.

  • 5th International Workshop on Plasma Spectroscopy5th International Workshop on Plasma Spectroscopy
    13 May - 16 May 2012(French Riviera, Presqu'île de Giens)

The 5th International Workshop on Plasma Spectroscopy covers all modern aspects of plasma spectroscopy connecting basic research with industrial applications. It will bring together specialists who are applying spectroscopic methods for investigations in gas discharges in a convivial surroundings to promote fruitful discussions.

  • MicrotubulesMicrotubules
    23 May - 26 May 2012(Heidelberg, Germany)

The aim of this conference is to gather established and young researchers from all over the world who have substantially contributed to the microtubule field in recent years. The previous meeting was a great success in generating exciting scientific discussions and the exchange of concepts and ideas, and also in bringing together scientists that use different approaches to study microtubules. The generation of an integrative perspective that assembles different scientific approaches around the microtubule field is again the goal of the 2012 microtubule meeting. To keep the conference series highly dynamic and attractive, a new scientific topic was added to the program and only scientists who did not speak at the first conference were invited.

  • ELMI 2012ELMI 2012
    05 Jun - 08 Jun 2012(Leuven, Belgium)

The European Light Microscopy Initiative (ELMI) is an internationally recognised meeting on light microscopy for the life sciences. Newest findings and applications are presented by leading scientists and are complimented by cutting edge developments in technology made available through hands-on workshops. This 'must attend' event is set in the historical yet bustling city of Leuven, a blink of an eye from the heart of Europe.

ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of Light Microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment. The meeting will include conference sessions, company hosted workshops, a poster session and a company exhibition. Participants with any level of experience would benefit from attending this meeting.

  • The 17th Annual Live Cell Microscopy CourseThe 17th Annual Live Cell Microscopy Course
    09 Jun - 25 Jun 2012(Vancouver, Canada)

The aim of this course is to create an environment in which students with interesting biological problems are brought together with advanced instrumentation in order to increase their understanding of the 3D Microscopy of Living Cells and to develop and disseminate solutions to the problems we find.

From the point of view of the manufacturer's representatives, this course is likely to involve more hands-on experimental effort than they have ever experienced in a one-week period. It may be exhausting, but it is also a valuable chance to learn first-hand about the problems faced daily by those who really push their instruments to the limit.

The following procedures have been developed over the years to make the Course a success, for everyone.

  • Live-Cell Imaging 2012Live-Cell Imaging 2012
    12 Jun - 14 Jun 2012(Norwich, UK)

This three-day workshop provides theoretical and practical guidance on imaging live cells and tissues, focusing on the use of fluorescence microscopy. The course is designed for beginners and includes lectures and hands-on experience of both short- and long-term observations using widefield, confocal and multi-photon microscopy.

  • The 11th Congress of Japanese Society for Regenerative MedicineThe 11th Congress of Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine
    12 Jun - 14 Jun 2012(Yokohama, Japan)

    .

  • EMBL Conference: C. Elegans NeurobiologyEMBL Conference: C. Elegans Neurobiology
    14 Jun - 17 Jun 2012(Heidelberg, Germany)

This is a focused meeting on particular aspects of C.elegans biology. Topic meetings provide a vibrant and exciting arena for discussion of current research, and the sharing of new ideas, methods, and reagents.

Each platform session will focus on one area and begin with a Keynote speaker recognized in that area. The remainder of the meeting programme will consist of talks chosen from submitted abstracts, giving students and post-docs opportunities to speak. In the past, competition for talks has been high, giving rise to a very high quality programme.

  • 63rd SCANDEM Meeting63rd SCANDEM Meeting
    12 Jun - 15 Jun 2012(Bergen, Norway)

The Scientific program covers the main areas of latest instrumentation and methodology in materials and life science, as well as research in these areas where microscopy plays a crucial role. The organisers welcome submissions for oral and poster presentations. There will be an award for the best student talk and the best student poster. Also during the conference, there will be a trade exhibition in the area adjacent to the lecture halls. An afternoon-session on Thursday is dedicated to company presentations.

  • Abercrombie SymposiumAbercrombie Symposium
    25 Jun - 27 Jun 2012(Oxford, England)

The series of Abercrombie meetings have been held since the death of Michael Abercrombie in 1979. Michael was a pioneer in the field of investigating cell behaviour using time-lapse microscopy. One interesting aspect of these meetings, since they take place every five years, is that they chart very clearly advances in our understanding of cell motility; perhaps like an extended time-lapse film of cell migration research.

  • EMBO Practical course 3D Developmental ImagingEMBO Practical course 3D Developmental Imaging
    29 Jun - 07 Jul 2012(Oeiras, Portugal)

EMBO Practical Course on 3D Developmental Imaging is aimed at young researchers working on Developmental Biology, interested in answering specific questions that require observation of cell movement and tissue morphogenesis in whole embryos, particularly difficult using conventional optical microscopy techniques. Participants in this 3rd edition of the course will have the opportunity to learn and test state-of-the-art techniques/protocols for imaging whole embryos/organs, and are expected to apply the techniques to their experimental model of choice, obtain high quality 3D images, learn to manage, process and analyse multi-dimensional data-sets, and learn strategies for publishing 3D images/movies.
